Psychotherapy and counselling

Do you experience that you are stuck, despite having a logical understanding of what you need to do to change? Do you take too much or too little responsibility in different situations, and do you give your feelings the space they need inside of you? Repeating problematic life patterns, either in relation to others or to oneself, is a common reason to initiate psychotherapy. Difficulties balancing thoughts and feelings, or one's own and others' needs, are other reasons. Maybe you want to develop your way of relating to others or your image of yourself. We focus on understanding what is unique about you, to find the keys to change. Together we work through obstacles hindering the life you want for yourself. The psychotherapeutic work can be short-term with a defined focus, or be long-term, aimed at more comprehensive change.

When trying to navigate a life crisis or if you recently experienced something upsetting, you may benefit from supportive counselling for a limited time, where we tackle your problematic situation together and strive at broadening your repertoire of coping skills.

Couple’s therapy

I also offer couple’s therapy. The reason for choosing that can be that you end up in the same kind of conflicts every time, and that you don’t experience the conflicts as constructive and developing, but rather exhausing and that they make you doubt your relationship. At other times you apply for couple’s therapy because you are uncertain if the love and desire you used to feel are still there, and how you want to move forward in this new landscape. You can also choose couple’s therapy because you have experienced infiderly or unloyalty, experiences that are hard to process and move forward from.

I work with a the time perspective now and the future together with couples. That doesn’t mean that you cannot share your past, which is many times necessary information. The main focus for our work should be what to do here and now and going forward, with your history as the background.

Assessment

I offer psychological assessments in collaboration with social service or other public health care services. Psychological assessments deepen the understanding of a person’s ways of functioning, emotionally as well as cognitively. They can point at important areas, where the person needs temporary or more continuous support. Also in this setting, I work with transparency and strive for the assessment to be development-oriented for the person being assessed.

I can also conduct psychological assessments when you have questions about your ways of functioning, emotionally and cognitively. I see the assessment as a collaboration, where we work with the questions you have about yourself as a starting point in order to reach a deeper understanding moving forward.

Children

Counselling for parents

When you have questions about your child's anxiety, fear or anger, or his or her reactions to a crisis of some kind, I offer guidance in the form of counselling. Counselling provides opportunities to reflect upon your role as a parent and your child´s needs in various situations. I also offer support and guidance regarding children with special needs.

Assessment

When the development of a child does not progress as expected or parents and other significant people need a deeper understanding of the child´s way of functioning, we offer assessment. An assessment can lead to the child reaching an increased understanding of himself, new approaches in how to meet the child´s needs and of course shed light on the sometimes overlooked strengths of the child.

Family therapy with grown-up children

I offer therapy for those of you who erperience that relational patterns from the past stand in the way of the relationship you want to have with your parent/parents or your grown-up child/children. We can meet together to explore what you can do here, now and moving forward, to develop the relationship you wish for, with your common history as a background.
